As the clock ticks towards the March 30th by-election in Karonga north west constituency the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has left no stone unturned in drumming support for its candidate in the elections Lusubilo Kamwambe.
On Friday former Governor for the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) who is also aspiring for the party’s presidency DalitsoKabambe stormed the constituency to woo votes for the DPP candidate.
Speaking to the media after presiding over a rally that the party held at Kakoma Primary School in the area of Traditional Authority Kilipola in the constituency Kabambe, said Kamwambe was the best candidate to represent the area which he described as under developed.
“Lusubilo Kamwambe is the only candidate who can transform this area as people are in need for development and our candidate has the keys to unlock the development in the constituency as he is a home boy who knows all the challenges that the people are facing,” he said.
The former RBM Governor therefore appealed to the electrets to turnout in large numbers in order to usher in Kamwambe intopower as their parliamentarian in Tuesday’s much anticipated polls.
On his part the DPP shadow Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Kamwambe, expressed confidence of victory come Tuesday.
He said, his vision is to develop the area through having good road network, primary and secondary schools, access of portablewater and health centres among other developmental agenda’s.
“I have connected well with the people here and I am very much confident of victory come rain or sunshine on Tuesday. All I want is to be given a chance to continue my Late Brother’s (James Kamwambe) legacy of continued development,” Kamwambe said.
Traditional dances and drama performances spiced up the rally and notable people who attended the rally included DPP regional governor for the north Ackim Mwanza among others.
