Police in Lingadzi Lilongwe, have reffered the dumped area 18A one week baby boy to Bwaila hospital for care.

FCM TV online today Wednesday, followed up the matter with Lingadzi Police Public Relations Officer, Salomy Chibwana Zgambo.

Zgambo has confirmed to FCM TV Online that the formation received the case of the dumped baby.

Zgambo said: “This story of a dumped baby indeed was reported at our formation. For now, this child is at Bwaila hospital that is where we left him.”

Zgambo has also told FCM TV Online that the baby was found in area 18A. She however said the mother stays between Ngomani and Mgona area.

“Our preliminary investigations show that the mother to the baby was at Bwaila hospital, is where she delivered the baby, is where she was admitted and she was at Kangaroo.

“The day she dumped the baby is the day she was discharged from the hospital. Therefore, instead of going to her house which happens to be between Ngomani and Mugona, she just decided to dump the baby and then off she went. The baby was discovered in the morning,” said Zgambo.

Meanwhile, according to Zgambo, the police are still investigating the matter to arrest the mother.

She added: “We are still investigating, to find that lady. Because when we went to the hospital, the details she gave there was somehow not true. It means she already had a motive of committing that crime. So we are trying to find out where that lady is.”

On Monday, December 28 2020, social media was overwhelmed with a photo of the dumping baby, dropped near a bush in area 18A. The baby was traced by passers by who were off to their respective businesses.
